Our Story

Meet Sarah, founder of bell&fox

"I am passionate about accessories and love the way they can turn any outfit into something with real personality, and a real sense of style.

I started my career nearly 30 years ago, working as an accessories designer and buyer for the likes of TopShop, Whistles and Jigsaw, and heading the accessories teams for Monsoon, Radley and Reiss.

While I loved my work, some aspects of the fashion industry frustrated me - the corners cut on sustainability to achieve maximum profits, and the throwaway, fast fashion culture

I wanted to create my own collection, with an emphasis on style over fashion and quality over cost, which would ensure each piece lasted for years and not just for one season. I wanted to use my experience to create responsibly sourced, ethically made handbags and accessories, and still competitively priced.

Why bell&fox?

The name harks back to my mum’s home-made designs. I’m the middle of three sisters, and she tended to make us all the same outfit.  I particularly remember a trio of purple nylon jumpsuits…

To give us our own identity, mum made sure our outfits and belongings all had a point of distinction, unique to each of us.  Mine was always a bell.

My favourite 'accessory' as a little girl was a toy fox, which I took everywhere with me, with a little gold bell tied on with a red ribbon.  So when it came to naming my brand, bell&fox seemed the perfect choice.

Just like my mum's creations, my pieces are hand-made with love and care. I take my inspiration from vintage designs, but add my own contemporary twist to ensure bell&fox bags and accessories are packed with personality and functionality.

All of my pieces have their own distinctive details, such as fox tail zip pulls, or my signature bell charms, and all are subtly branded, allowing your own sense of style to shine.

I hope you love your bell&fox purchase as much as I enjoy designing and working with our incredible artisans to create each and every piece."
